Getting Started

What is OGLandman?

OGLandman is a software company building tools for landmen and mineral buyers. Our platform includes Scout (a mineral acquisition CRM), a free TRRC Permit Tracker, and the industry's most comprehensive oil & gas M&A directory.

Who is Scout built for?

Scout is built for mineral buyers, independent landmen, and acquisition teams buying mineral rights and royalty interests. It is not a tool for selling mineral rights — it's a buyer's CRM, purpose-built for the acquisition workflow.

How is Scout different from Salesforce or HubSpot?

Salesforce and HubSpot were built for generic B2B sales. Scout was built from day one for the specific workflow of mineral acquisition — owner databases with NMA and NRI, PSA generation, permit-to-deal pipelines, landman role hierarchies, and a Data Import Engine that handles call sheets and county tax roll lists. You shouldn't have to bolt together five tools to close a mineral deal.

Do I need to be a landman to use Scout?

No. Scout is used by independent buyers, family offices, and acquisition teams at larger operators. If you're buying minerals or royalty interests, Scout is built for you.

How long does onboarding take?

Most teams are running on Scout by the end of their first afternoon. The Data Import Engine handles your existing call sheets, spreadsheets, and tax rolls in minutes — no manual re-entry required. Our team helps you through it live.

Data Import & Migration

Can Scout import my existing call sheets?

Yes. Upload your CSV or Excel call sheets and Scout parses the columns, maps them to owner records, and populates your pipeline automatically. No manual transcription.

Can Scout import county mineral tax roll lists?

Yes — this is one of Scout's flagship features. Drop in a county mineral holder tax roll list and Scout builds a complete owner database with contact info, acreage, interest type, and ownership fractions auto-populated.

What file formats does the import engine accept?

CSV, Excel (.xlsx and .xls), Google Sheets exports, and exports from the major generic CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot, Airtable). If you have something unusual, email us first — we can usually work with it.

Will I lose my deal history when I migrate?

No. Scout's import engine preserves your history — previous calls, callbacks, notes, and deal stages all come across. Your pipeline on day one looks the same as your pipeline on your last day in spreadsheets, but in a real CRM.

Permit Tracker

Is the Permit Tracker really free?

Yes. The Permit Tracker is completely free, always will be, and Just enter your email to unlock access — no credit card, no account to manage. It's our way of contributing back to the industry, and the fastest way for new users to see the quality of our data before they consider Scout.

How often is the Permit Tracker updated?

Daily. We pull new permits directly from TRRC filings every day, so the tracker is always current.

Can I filter by county, operator, or basin?

Yes. Filter by county, operator, lease, district, basin, or date range. You can also save watchlists and export filtered views to CSV.

Can I link to a filtered view of the tracker?

Yes — every filter is URL-addressable. You can deep-link to something like /permit-tracker?county=Midland or /permit-tracker?operator=Diamondback and land directly on a pre-filtered feed.

Pricing & Billing

Can I switch plans at any time?

Yes. Contact us to upgrade or downgrade — we will credit any unused balance against your next invoice.

Is there a contract?

No contracts. All plans are month-to-month — cancel anytime if things aren't working out.

Do you offer a free trial of Scout?

Yes. The Trial plan is free forever — you get the Permit Tracker, 1,000 owners, and a view-only pipeline. Upgrade whenever you need the full Scout feature set.

How do team plans work?

The Company plan is billed per user per month, up to 20 seats. Above 20 seats, you move to Enterprise and we put together a custom quote.

Security & Compliance

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Scout enforces row-level security with strict tenant isolation — your records are never visible to other customers. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Is Scout SOC 2 compliant?

Scout runs on SOC 2 Type II–certified infrastructure (Supabase on AWS) with tenant isolation via row-level security, encrypted backups, and audit logging built in from day one. A formal Scout-level SOC 2 engagement is on the roadmap; for enterprise vendor reviews we can share our current controls overview on request.

Do you offer SSO / SAML?

Email + password is available today. Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and SAML 2.0 SSO are on the Enterprise roadmap — let us know your identity provider when you book a demo and we'll confirm timing.

Is there an API?

A public read/write API is on the roadmap. If you need programmatic access today for integrations or analytics, talk to us on a demo call — we can provide scoped Supabase read credentials for Enterprise accounts.

Where is Scout data hosted?

Scout runs on U.S.-region cloud infrastructure (Supabase on AWS us-east) with geographic redundancy, point-in-time backups, and 24/7 monitoring. Data residency outside the U.S. is available on Enterprise — talk to us about your compliance requirements.

Is Scout GDPR / CCPA ready?

Yes. We support data subject access, export, and deletion requests per GDPR Art. 15–17 and CCPA §1798.100. Most of our customers are operating under U.S. law, but the architecture handles EU and California residents correctly — reach out for a DPA.

Who owns the data I put into Scout?

You do. Full export to CSV or JSON at any time, no questions asked. If you ever leave, we'll help you get a clean archive.

Do you have a mobile app?

Scout runs as a responsive web app — optimized for the browser on phone, tablet, and desktop, so you can check your pipeline from the truck or the lease site without installing anything. A native iOS/Android wrapper is on the roadmap for teams who want push notifications and offline mode.

What's your uptime history?

Scout runs on Supabase + Vercel, which publish their own uptime (historically 99.9%+). We monitor error rates and customer-impacting incidents and communicate transparently. Formal SLA with service credits is available on Enterprise.

Integrations

Does Scout integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot?

Not natively today — most Scout customers are replacing those tools, not syncing with them. If you're mid-migration, CSV import + CSV export handle a two-way workflow cleanly.

Can Scout send email from my address?

Gmail and Microsoft 365 inbox connection (so outbound goes from your real address) is in active development. Today, PSA drafts and digests are sent via Scout's branded domain.

Does Scout integrate with DocuSign?

DocuSign envelope generation from signed-ready PSAs is on the roadmap. Today, Scout generates the PSA as a fillable PDF you can route through your existing signing tool.

Can I export permit data from the Permit Tracker?

Yes. Every filtered view on the Permit Tracker exports to CSV. Scout customers can also auto-import matched permits directly into an owner pipeline.

M&A Directory

What is the M&A Directory?

A free, public directory of 3,300+ oil & gas mergers, acquisitions, and name changes dating back more than 75 years. Search any company and trace its corporate lineage to find the current successor entity.

Do I need an account to use the M&A Directory?

No. It's completely free and open to anyone.

How is the M&A data kept current?

We update the directory continuously as new deals are announced. If you spot a missing deal or a correction, let us know and we'll fix it.

Didn't find your answer?

Ask us directly. We read every message and respond within 4 hours.
